HAMMOND, LA (WVUE) -

An 18-year-old Hammond man turned himself in to authorities in connection with a shooting in early February.

Jervarion Smith is booked with aggravated second degree battery.  Tangipahoa Parish authorities say the shooting happened because of an alleged argument over a dice game in Hammond.

Detectives say they were called to an apartment on Rufus Bankston Road early this week. The victim told police several people were playing a game of dice when an argument erupted. The suspect allegedly pulled out a black semi automatic gun and fired several shots. The victim suffered two gunshot wounds to the leg. He is expected to recover.

Tangipahoa detectives say the investigation is ongoing.
