ST. CHARLES PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Fire fighters have extinguished the fire burning the train tracks near the Bonnet Carré Spillway.

According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, the first report of the fire came in Saturday around 8:20 a.m. from a crew working on the tracks. They were doing grinding work on the tracks when they spotted the flames. According to officials, the crew attempted to put the fire out with extinguishers.

St. Charles and St. John the Baptist Parish fire departments both responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
