ASSUMPTION PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Five people were arrested Tuesday in Assumption Parish after narcotics officers said they found drugs and guns during two separate traffic stops.
The first vehicle, a blue Caprice, was stopped by deputies when it turned down Jones Street in Napoleonville after agents said they witnessed a drug transaction. The driver got out of the car while it was still rolling and fled on foot, leaving two passengers in the car, deputies said. The driver was caught after brief chase.
Quan Lewis, 20 of Jones Street in Napoleonville; Michael Lewis, 21, of 212 Daggs Street in Belle Rose; and Myron Lewis, 19, also of Daggs Street in Belle Rose were arrested at the scene. Deputies determined that both Quan Lewis and Michael Lewis had outstanding warrants for their arrest. A search of the vehicle yielded a .40-caliber Glock next to a large bag that contained more than a dozen individually wrapped plastic baggies containing marijuana and three medium-sized baggies containing marijuana weighing about 106 grams, deputies said. A .357 revolver was also located in the rear of the car.
The second vehicle, a black Chevy Trailblazer, was stopped for a traffic violation. Narcotics K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the exterior and alerted to the possible presence of narcotics, deputies said. A search of the vehicle yielded a syringe and two silver spoons with suspected heroin residue. Matthew Aucoin, 21, of Riche Town Lane in Napoleonville; and Scott Leonard, 22, of Riverbend Street in Pierre Part, were placed under arrest.
Quan Lewis was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center for assault by drive-by shooting and flight from an officer. Michael Lewis was booked for domestic abuse battery, simple battery, simple criminal damage to property and obstruction of justice. Myron Lewis was booked with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Matthew Aucoin was booked with possession of Schedule I CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. Scott Leonard was booked driving while suspended, careless operation, possession of Schedule I CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
Bond has not been set for any of the suspects and all remained in custody at the time of publication.
