NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The girlfriend of a man who was shot and killed by Jefferson Parish deputies on Feb. 8 has been arrested in connection with the case.
Investigators said they've determined that Tyshara Blouin was the registered owner of the car that she and Eric Harris used to flee from police. They said a search warrant executed on Blouin's vehicle resulted in the recovery of a gun and a small amount of heroin.
The incident began at Oakwood Mall, where three women told a deputy working a security detail that Harris had brandished a weapon at them. When the deputy tried to question Harris, he took off on foot and got into Blouin's car.
Investigators said surveillance video obtained from the mall shows that Blouin was complicit in Harris's escape. She was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on Wednesday with one count each of accessory after the fact to aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
There was no immediate word on bond.
