NOPD searches for two women trying to use stolen credit cards

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police need help finding two women who allegedly broke into a car in the Freret neighborhood, stole credit cards, and then later tried to use them at a Mid-City store.

Investigators say the women broke into a car Jan. 3, in the 4600 block of Freret Street and stole a purse inside with a wallet.

The victim later alerted police that someone was attempting to use her stolen credit card at a Walgreen's in the 4400 block of South Claiborne Avenue. Surveillance video obtained from a store cashier shows two black females trying to make a purchase of $262.34. The purchase was declined and voided by the store manager.

Police say the women then walked out the store. Both face auto burglary charges.

They describe the first suspect was described as 5'9", slim, dark brown complexioned, early thirties and was last seen wearing a red scarf on her head, with a black jacket and blue jeans. She is also known by the name "Mary", according to store employees. The second suspect is about 5'4", medium to hefty build, early fifties with a dark brown complexion. She was also wearing a teal hat, blue jeans, a white shirt and a jacket.
