BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) - The Louisiana State Police canceled a Level II Endangered/Missing Child advisory on behalf of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office after a 22-month-old child was found safe.
Desiree Mayfield was in good health in an abandoned vehicle off of Airline Hwy. near I-12 on Plaza American Drive Friday morning. Law enforcement also found her father, Donoven Bessie, 23, hiding in the trunk of the car. He is now in custody.
Desiree went missing on Thursday afternoon in the Gardere Lane area of Baton Rouge with her father. Police believed she was in imminent danger.
Bessie is wanted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office for aggravated assault with a firearm, terrorizing, unauthorized entry of a business, disturbing the peace, and felon in possession of a firearm.
