Tulane wins with walk-off home run in 10th

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Tulane baseball opened their 2016 campaign in dramatic fashion with a walk-off home run by Jeremy Montalbano. His three-run home run gave the Wave a 6-5 win in ten innings over Illinois.

Tulane led most of the contest, but gave up two runs in the ninth, giving fans extra baseball.

Illinois scored three in the top of tenth, which for many would seem like an insurmountable lead, but Tulane wasn't hearing any of that on their opening night.

Lex Kaplan's RBI single cut the deficit to two, and Montalbano hit the game-winner.

Tulane and Illinois meet up again at 4 p.m. Saturday at Turchin Stadium.
