KENNER, LA (WVUE) - Kenner Police make an arrest in the rape of a 16-year-old girl. The incident occurred Wednesday in the 1000 block of 31st Street in Kenner.
According to police, hospital staff at Ochsner Kenner contacted police and said that a 16-year-old girl arrived at the hospital and reported that she was raped at a housing complex. Detectives spoke with the girl who said that 17-year-old Jontrell Wells, who was an acquaintance, held her down against her will and raped her.
Due to her age, the victim was transferred to the Care Center at Children's Hospital for treatment.
Police made contact with Wells, who denied the rape. He also told detectives that he lives in St. Rose, but frequently visits the housing complex where some of his family lives.
Wells was taken into custody and charged with 2nd degree rape (forcible) and sexual battery. He remains in jail and a bond has not yet been set.
