NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Three games into Blake Dean's coaching career, and three straight wins. The latest coming with a 9-6 win, Sunday, over Louisiana Tech.

Home runs by Kyle Bracey and Dakota Dean, Blake's brother, and four hits by Preston Marsh helped the Privateers' cause at the plate.

The Privateers had a comfortable 8-2 lead at one point, but the Bulldogs of Ruston stormed back in the late innings to make it a tight contest. Newman alum Daniel Martinez picked up his second save in as many days, recording the final seven outs on the mound.

The Privateers fell to an early 1-0 deficit in the second, but it didn't last long. New Orleans came back with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Back-to-back triples by Preston Marsh and Chaz Boyer accounted for the first two runs and Jay Robinson drove in the first of his three on the day with an RBI ground-out.

UNO added two more to the lead in the fourth when Bracey went yard for his first homer on the season. He capped a three-day total in which he went 8-for-11 with four RBIs and a team-leading six runs.

UNO returns to action Wednesday night on the road at Southern Mississippi.

It's an ending that's still hard to comprehend. But lost in the aftermath of the Saints chaotic loss to the vikings Sunday was the fact that the Vikings still had to kick the extra point.
