Orleans Levee District officer injured in car crash

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

An Orleans Levee District officer was injured after being involved in an accident in her marked unit. The incident occurred Sunday around 6:58 p.m. at the intersection of Leon C. Simon Drive and Franklin Avenue. 

According to an Orleans Levee District police spokesperson, the officer was on her way home and as she was driving through the intersection, her vehicle was broad-sided by a man in another car. Both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash. The officer was transported to West Jefferson Medical Center while the driver of the other car was brought to University Hospital. 

The man has not yet been charged in the crash. The investigation into the crash continues.
