Second suspect arrested in Esplanade Mall carjacking

KENNER, LA (WVUE) - Kenner police arrested an 18-year-old New Orleans woman in connection with a carjacking that happened outside Esplanade Mall in January.

Officers arrested Jada Davis on Sunday on charges of principal to carjacking, principal to purse snatching, criminal conspiracy and illegal possession of stolen things.

Authorities said after planning the purse snatching and carjacking, Davis drove Donte Moore, 18, to the mall in Kenner in a stolen 2013 Volkswagen SUV. Moore got out of the vehicle, approached the 68-year-old victim and snatched her purse and stole her car.

He was arrested the same day.

The Volkswagen was reported stolen the same day in New Orleans, during another carjacking at Cadiz and Willow streets.

Kenner police detectives interviewed Davis. They said she admitted her involvement in the purse snatching and carjacking.

The stolen Volkswagen was discovered in the 3900 block of Delachaise St. on Jan. 29, which is one block from Davis' residence.

Davis remains in custody, no bond has been set.
