Pelicans' win streak ends with blowout in D.C.

(WVUE) - The hot hand of Anthony Davis that scored 59 Sunday in Detroit was cooled down Tuesday in D.C. as the Brow scored just 9 in a 109-89 defeat to the Wizards.

The Pelicans were withstanding a slow first half from their franchise cornerstone and only trailed 54-51 at the midway point but a 14-0 run for the home team to start the third quarter doomed Alvin Gentry's team to fall to 22-34 overall.

Jrue Holiday and Ryan Anderson led the way with 36 combined points, both off the bench. Washington held a decided advantage in shooting on the night, hitting 45.7% of their field goals, compared to just 34.9% for New Orleans.

The Pelicans return home Thursday to host the Thunder at 7 PM. Two weeks prior in Oklahoma City, the home team won handily, 121-95.
