NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Tulane's first midweek game of the season was postponed by Tuesday's severe weather but the Green Wave came out Wednesday and took care of visiting Alcorn State with ease, 7-0, to improve to 3-1 on the season.
The 20th ranked team in the nation scored multiple runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to build a comfortable lead and let a five-man pitching effort combine to allow just two hits to the Braves. Ross Massey got the win in relief for his four perfect innings, including four strikeouts. On offense, Richard Carthon led the way with 2 RBIs while Stephen Alemais was an impressive 3-for-4 including a triple to score Tulane's first run.
David Pierce's team is back on the diamond Friday as they travel to San Diego for the Tony Gwynn Classic.
