BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) -

LSU's first road trip of the season looked to be on the right track as the Tigers jumped out to an 8-0 lead over Lamar but the Cardinals fought back to lead 10-8 and eventually win by a final score of 12-11.

Paul Mainieri's fifth-ranked squad chased two pitchers out of the game but Brett Brown entered in relief in the second and lasted five innings, long enough to allow the Cardinals' offense to score ten straight runs, seven given up by junior pitcher Riley Smith.

The seventh inning saw Brother Martin product Greg Deichmann and Lakeshore product Cole Freeman bring in three total runs to regain the lead but it would not hold as Lamar rallied in the eighth for the tying and go-ahead runs.

Parker Bugg was credited with the loss. LSU returns home for a weekend series against Sacramento State.
