NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Former Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Jiff Hingle was arrested in New Orleans early this morning and charged with driving while intoxicated.
New Orleans Police officers on patrol stopped Hingle near the intersection of Girod and Tchoupitoulas Streets after observing erratic driving.
Hingle was booked into jail 4 a.m.on DWI charge and failure to yield at a stop sign, according to a Tyler Gamble of the New Orleans Police Department.
Hingle refused a breath test after being taken into custody.
He was released from the jail about an hour later.
There was no word on whether Hingle posted bond when he was released.
