NOPD searching for robber who shot, paralyzed man in front of his home

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Police are searching for the armed robber who shot and paralyzed a 37-year old man in front of his own home.

According to NOPD, Seventh District officers found the victim on the floor of his home in the 8500 block of Huntington Park around 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2015.

Police say the unidentified victim attempted to open his front door when someone shot him from inside his home. The victim said he felt an instant pain in his back then collapsed. Police say the victim managed to use his cell phone to call for help and was taken to the hospital by EMS.

Police say the gunshot wound left the victim paralyzed from the waist down.

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the person responsible. Once arrested, they will be charged with Aggravated Battery and Simple Burglary.
