NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Parking mistakes in New Orleans will cost you more starting Monday, Feb. 29 as new increased parking violation fines go into effect.

Parking tickets that had cost violators $20 will increase to $30.

Procrastination will make that even costlier. If that ticket is not paid after 30 days, the find increases to $60 and will grow to $90 after 60 days.

Fines are also increasing from $40 to $75 for tickets for parking in a Residential Parking Permit zone without a proper permit.

Earlier this year, rates increased for parking at meters around the city and hours of meter enforcement were extended to 7 p.m.

When stuffing soft-shell crabs, I always look for the females of the species first. They not only have that wonderful flavor, but they are usually full of the rich roe that was made famous in she-crab soup. You can always tell the females prior to cooking. They’re the ones with their fingernails painted red. If you don’t believe me, look for yourself next time.
