TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A registered sex offender from Houma faces new charges, accused of molesting an 11-year-old girl eight months after he was released from jail.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office said the girl's parents confirmed that Jamie Verdin, 34, was at their home Wednesday night. Verdin allegedly touched the girl in an inappropriate manner and had a conversation with her that was sexual in nature.
Detectives said he admitted to being alone with the girl after drinking several alcoholic beverages.
Deputies booked Verdin with indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Record show he was convicted in 2001 of forcible rape of a minor and released from prison in June of 2015.
