Traffic stop in Assumption Parish uncovers bag of marijuana

ASSUMPTION PARISH, LA (WVUE) -


A traffic stop in Assumption parish uncovers over seven ounces of marijuana.

On Thursday, February 25th, shortly after 7 p.m. Assumption parish deputies pull over a 
Cadillac Deville on Highway 398.

Deputies say the driver, 32 year old Manuel Fabre, was acting suspicious when being interviewed by police.
Deputies say a strong smell of marijuana was detected coming from the Cadillac.
A K-9 was deployed and signaled the presence of marijuana in the driver side door.
There police found a zip lock bag with 220 grams of marijuana.

Fabre and a female passenger 25 year old Ericha Sweetser were taken into custody.
There were also two juveniles in the vehicle at the time and they were released to their grandmother.

Manuel Fabre was booked in the Assumption Parish jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
