NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office has suspended a deputy for an incident Monday afternoon in which an inmate walked away from a security line at Municipal Court.

Municipal inmate Lionel C. Trumble, 38, faces multiple counts of possession of stolen property. Trumble was transferred to Municipal Court for a regularly scheduled hearing, and as the group of inmates he was with was leaving court, Trumble walked away from the security line.

The OPSO notified the U.S. Marshalls Task force and other law enforcement agencies, and is actively searching for Trumble.

An initial investigation found that a sheriff’s deputy did not follow proper OPSO security procedures. The deputy involved was suspended pending completion of the investigation. In addition, an administrative review is underway. The deputy’s name will not be released until that review is completed.
