Recall issued for Maytag Dairy Farms products

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Maytag Dairy Farms suspended production and distribution of all its products due to possible listeria contamination.

Products with the labels "Maytag Blue Raw Milk," "Maytag Blue" or "Maytag Iowa Blue Cheese" have all been pulled from store shelves.

Consumers should throw out products with the PLU numbers beginning with 293308 and sell-by dates of Jan. 20 and May 21.

Customers can bring their receipts to the purchasing store for a full refund.

The possible bacterial contamination was discovered by the FDA in an Iowa plant.

The voluntary recall was issued today, March 1, 2016.

Whole Foods is one of the Louisiana stores that carries Maytag Dairy Farm products.

The company has set up a hotline for consumers, 512-477-5566, extension 20060, from  8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
