NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The sentencing for former New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper has been delayed until June after a request from his attorney.

Sharper’s sentencing was originally scheduled for today.

That new date is after the trial of Sharper’s co-defendants in the case.

Yesterday Sharper made a new deal with federal prosecutors.

Two weeks ago, a federal judge rejected a deal that would have meant a nine-year sentence for Sharper.

Sharper earlier pled guilty or "no contest" to charges that he drugged and raped women in four states including Louisiana.

Sharper also faces federal charges.
