Police are searching for a homeless man and woman caught on camera stealing from a woman's purse.

Investigators say around 9:00 p.m. on Feb. 28, a woman told police that she was managing the front desk at her job in the 1100 block of N. Rampart Street when an unknown man walked in and began to loiter inside the lobby. She told police that she left her desk briefly and when she returned, her purse had been opened and several items were missing, including cash, a gas card and a bank card.

After viewing the surveillance video, the employee said she recognized the person from the lobby and had seen him frequently panhandling at the intersection of North Claiborne and Esplanade Avenue.

He was described as a homeless black man, approximately in his sixties, with dark-skin, a bald head, and wearing a dark-colored hoodie sweater and black pants. He was with an elderly black woman, wearing a pink hat, carrying a pink sack-styled bag and wearing dark clothing with a white t-shirt underneath.

People with information that can help solve this crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
