Motorist advisory signs to be installed along Loyola Drive, Williams Boulevard

New advisory signs will alert motorists to Interstate-10 delays New advisory signs will alert motorists to Interstate-10 delays
KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

As part of an agreement involving the Louisiana DOTD, City of Kenner and the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission, a number of Dynamic Message Signs will soon be installed at several locations along Loyola Dr. and Williams Blvd. in Kenner. Administrators say these signs will alert motorists of any traffic congestion along I-10 eastbound and westbound.

According to engineers, the project will improve mobility and travel time savings, along with providing enhanced safety and a reduction in environmental emissions and noise.  During emergencies, these signs will also provide critical traveler information for efficient evacuation of residents, said Kenner Public Works Director Jose Gonzalez.

Ernest P. Breaux Electrical is the contractor on the project, which is expected to require short duration lane closures during non-peak hour traffic periods.

The signs will be located at Loyola Dr. southbound near Furman Dr.,  Williams Blvd. northbound immediately north of West Napoleon Ave., and Williams Blvd. southbound immediately south of Driftwood Boulevard.

The work is expected to be completed within three months.
