KENNER, LA (WVUE) - Box after box, workers unloaded 18 pieces of furniture from a Hamilton Enterprises Imports delivery truck into a business warehouse in Kenner.
"It looks like all 18 pieces are here, and it's the furniture we ordered," said Dan Wagner, president of BLD Services.
Wagner couldn't be happier. A week ago, he walked FOX 8 through the utility services company's brand-new million-dollar building, showing us empty room after empty room. Employees couldn't move in because the furniture BLD ordered from Hamilton Enterprises Imports in Chalmette six months ago was never delivered, and BLD paid Hamilton more than $25,000 for it in September.
When Wagner couldn't get answers, he turned to the FOX 8 Defenders and Kenner Police, who also opened an investigation.
David Hamilton told FOX 8 there were a couple of delays in getting all of the merchandise, and the complete order wouldn't arrive to the furniture store until this weekend.
"1:17 this morning we got a text that said the furniture was coming today," Wagner said. "It's a happy day for us. We don't have to look stupid for something we didn't get," he explained.
Wagner and his employees checked the file cabinets, bookcases and office desks.
"We'd never have it if you hadn't done your stories - that's what I'm thinking," he said.
While BLD's case is solved, the St. Bernard Parish District Attorney's Office continues to investigate similar complaints against Hamilton from consumers we've exposed in a series of reports over the last several months. The consumers in our Furniture Store Fallout Investigation say they paid for or financed furniture that took months for delivery - or wasn't delivered at all.
