Fatal interstate crash kills one, injures another Sunday morning

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A four car accident claimed a man's life Sunday morning on I-10.

According to preliminary reports from NOPD, a car lost control and struck a guard rail on I-10 Westbound around 4:30 a.m. on March 6. The car bounced back into traffic and was struck by a second vehicle. A third vehicle then struck the second car.

According to the report, the driver of the second car got out of his vehicle and was then struck by a fourth car. He was pronounced dead on the scene. 

Police say only one other person was injured in the crash. They are in the hospital listed in critical condition at this time.

No charges have been filed against any of the drivers at this time.

Police completely shut down I-10W at West End Boulevard around 5 a.m. after the accident. As of 8:15 a.m., all lanes have been reopened, though traffic remains backed up.

This incident is still under investigation. Fox 8 will continue to update this story as it develops.
