NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Mo Tom currently sits seventh in the Kentucky Derby standings with 22 points. The top 20 qualify for the "Run for the Roses."

Last time out in the Risen Star Stakes, Mo Tom finished third gaining 10 points toward the Derby. Mo Tom was cut off and drew blood in the race, but he's fully recovered now.

Mo Tom's next big race is March 26 in the Louisiana Derby. The GMB Racing-owned horse worked this past Saturday in preparation for the jewel of the Fair Grounds racing season.

“He went well,” said Tom Amoss, Mo Tom's trainer. “It was his first work since his race, and he did it in-hand the whole way. It was a good work, as far as all that goes, and was very relaxed. If anything, it was quicker than I thought. Hopefully, he just stays like this through the Louisiana Derby. That would make me happy.”

GMB Racing is owned by Gayle Benson, wife of New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson.

It's an ending that's still hard to comprehend. But lost in the aftermath of the Saints chaotic loss to the vikings Sunday was the fact that the Vikings still had to kick the extra point.
