NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Twitter users in Louisiana unleash the most derogatory tweets in the country. 

Researchers with the rental listing website Abodo studied more than 12 million tweets posted over 18 months. They put Louisiana on top of their list of "Overall Derogatory Language, By State." 1,155 tweets out of every 100 thousand posted in the state included derogatory language.

The researchers considered a variety of derogatory language when they put together their list. Louisiana ranks first in the country for usage of derogatory language against women. New Orleans ranks first when you breakdown derogatory language against women by city.

The least derogatory language came from Wyoming.
