The NOPD has arrested a man in connection with a shooting at a 2015 New Year's Eve party in the Milan neighborhood.

Tuwan Minor, 20, is accused of opening fire on Dec. 31 at the intersection of Amelia and Dryades streets.

At about 9:45 p.m. on the night of the incident, police were called out to investigate a call of aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Investigators discovered four victims who sustained gunshot wounds. The victims told police that they didn't see anyone shooting in the area, but had heard what they described as “a loud popping noise” they thought were firecrackers before realizing they had been shot. The victims were taken to University Medical Center by private conveyance.

During the course of the investigation, detectives identified Minor as the suspect in the incident. Based on the facts and evidence surrounding the investigation, officers in the NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad and U.S. Marshals arrested Minor at his home on March 4. He was booked into Central Lockup and charged with four counts of aggravated battery.

The Sixth District Detective Unit is in charge of the ongoing investigation and can be reached at 504-658-6060.
