NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Eric Gordon's return from his fractured right ring finger lasted just four games before he re-fractured the digit and the Pelicans announced Tuesday that his season was over after he underwent successful surgery.

The 27-year-old came back strong from his 16-game absence with 31 points against the Timberwolves and kept the Pelicans competitive in the third quarter of their contest against the Spurs but suffered a setback Saturday against the Jazz.

He finishes his fifth season in New Orleans with an average of 15.2 points per game on 41.8% field goal shooting. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
