NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

In less than three months time Willie Fritz hauled in a top-notch recruiting class, and has the video department working overtime on hype videos. Now he's ready to see some of his work pay off with spring football starting next week. Just don't ask him about a depth chart just yet.

"Some guys, I call them off-season heroes. They do a great job in the weight room, spring ball, preseason camp," said Fritz. "Then when it's the real deal, they might not play as well. We're looking for in-season heroes. That's why we're probably looking for guys after the first game or second game, to really see who your top-line players. We'll have a good depth chart to work off after spring ball, but it'll still be a work in progress."

With two-year starter Tanner Lee transferring out of the program, the big question going into spring football is who will fill his role.

"There's going to be a different skill set with all these quarterbacks," Fritz said. "Some guys are going to be able to run it better, some guys will be able to pass it better. We've got an offense that can adapt to their skill set as well. You know I've had guys tell me what are we running. I'm not quite sure what we're running yet, until we get done with these 15 practices."

Today's work was much lighter between the Saints and Chargers was much lighter. They wore no pads only shells and helmets, and they only practiced two hours instead of two and a half like Thursday. While they certainly weren't perfect, overall the Saints had much better execution today than Thursday.  "I thought overall it was a little bit crisper today than yesterday.
