NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Children were swinging in the playground and men calmly strolled down a sidewalk when an SUV stopped, men jumped out and bullets flew on Thalia Street around 3:45 p.m. Feb. 28.

Dramatic surveillance video captures the scene as it unfolds in Marrero Commons, site of the old B.W. Cooper housing development.

NOPD investigators say identifying and finding that vehicle could provide crucial clues in the shooting that injured one person.

One witness said bullets came through the window of his home. Officers found a handgun in the street outside that home. Spent shell casings and bullets littered the street.

The witness told investigators he heard shots fired outside his residence. When the shooting stopped, he ventured out and spotted the handgun in the street.

Detectives determined a man who showed up at Oschner Baptist Hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot had been injured in the incident.

Police describe the vehicle wanted in the incident as a blue, Ford Expedition with a cracked front grill.

Sixth District Detectives are in charge of the investigation and can be reached at 504-658-6060 or contact Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
