SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) -

As most of you are aware, we are expecting heavy rainfall starting this afternoon and extending into Saturday. With the current southeasterly winds (which prevents water from draining into Lake Pontchartrain), flooding is already starting to occur in the Palm Lake subdivision, and the rain hasn't even started.

RESIDENTS IN PALM LAKE, please make arrangements for major flooding in your area. We are also preparing for flooding in the normal areas such as south Slidell, Gause Blvd, Independence / Rue Rochelle area, etc.

Slidell Police is about to start preparing barricades, high water vehicles, and other equipment in preparation for this weather. We are preparing for the worse and hoping for the best. We will keep you posted with updates.
