NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

JetBlue will soon begin daily non-stop flights from New Orleans to Fort Lauderdale.  The New York-based carrier announced plans on Thursday to begin flights from New Orleans International Airport (MSY) to Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), on September 29, 2016.

This announcement marks JetBlue’s third non-stop destination from New Orleans.  Other destinations include New York (JFK) and Boston (BOS).  Service to FLL will be offered on JetBlue’s Airbus A320 aircraft departing MSY at 8:48 a.m. and arriving in FLL at 11:33 a.m. (all times local). Tickets are currently available for sale, and introductory rates are available until March 10th.

“We are so pleased that JetBlue is continuing to grow in New Orleans,” said Mayor Mitch Landrieu. “We appreciate their commitment to our market and the positive economic impact that this airline generates for our region."

“Each increase in airline operations at our airport makes travel easier and more affordable for our passengers,” said New Orleans Aviation Board Chairwoman, Cheryl Teamer. “We are grateful for JetBlue’s service in our community.”

“JetBlue has provided our airport great access to Northeastern U.S. with reliability and exceptional customer service,” said Iftikhar Ahmad, Director of Aviation for Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. “With the addition of these 54,000 seats every year, passengers can now have much better access to Caribbean destinations.”
