NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

After finishing the regular season with a 10-21 record, Tulane men's basketball coach Ed Conroy preached that his team was close to playing a winning brand of basketball, they just needed time. Thursday, the Wave began showing that potential with a 65-63 win over Central Florida to advance.

Tulane trailed by six with less than five minutes but John Curtis alumnus Malik Morgan made a three-pointer and jumper on consecutive possessions followed by the same sequence for Cameron Reynolds to complete a 10-0 run. Conroy's squad never looked back.

The Green Wave will face second-seeded Houston at 6 p.m. Friday in the second round of the AAC Tournament.
