THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

Police captured a woman's ex-boyfriend hiding in her attic officers after attempted to arrest him multiple times for allegedly stalking her.

According to Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue, officers arrested 62-year-old James Skinner on March 10 for stalking his ex-girlfriend.

Skinner was first reported for stalking on March 9. According to police, Skinner's ex-girlfriend and a friend heard noises under her home around 3:25 a.m., but assumed they were an animal and ignored them. Shortly after the woman's friend left, Skinner showed up at the door covered in mud and began questioning his ex-girlfriend about the conversation she just had, tipping her off that he had been hiding under her house and listening the whole time.

The woman called police, but Skinner fled in his car before they arrived. Police spotted Skinner later that morning, but lost him after he got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police received a call later that Skinner returned to his ex-girlfriend's home and was banging on her window, but he fled again when police returned and was not seen again that day according to police.

The next day, March 10, the woman saw Skinner watching her home around 7:36 p.m. According to police, Skinner knocked on the door and asked to take a shower and get some dry clothes. The woman let him in and managed to contact police without Skinner knowing. Officers arrived while he was still in her home and found Skinner hiding in the attic. Police arrested Skinner and transported him to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
