NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Police are searching for the man who allegedly stole money straight out of a Dollar General cash register.

According to NOPD, 53-year-old Tyrone Livas went into the Dollar General in the 8400 block of Chef Menteur Highway on the morning of Feb. 18 and acted like he was going to buy something. When the cashier opened the register, police say Livas reached in and grabbed an unknown amount of cash. He then fled the store on foot.

During the course of the investigation, NOPD detectives identified Livas as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Livas is now wanted for Simple Robbery.

Police describe Livas as a black male with dark skin. They say he is short with a medium build and was wearing a black knit hat, blue plaid jacket and blue jeans at the time of the robbery.
