Streets flooded by storms in Hancock County

Heavy rain caused flooding Friday, which has forced road closures in south Mississippi. Heavy rain caused flooding Friday, which has forced road closures in south Mississippi.

The Hancock County Emergency Management Office checked roads for flooding early Saturday, March 12, 2016. As of 4:30 a.m., there is approximately 73 roads that have water over them. Six roads are impassible by cars.  

The areas that have water over the roads are:

  • Everest off HWY 603, West Side
  • Lagan off HWY 603, East Side
  • Central Avenue off HWY 603, East Side
  • Central Avenue, West Side of Hwy 603
  • Chapman Road
  • Off Harbor Drive
  • Cardinal Street

Streets that are impassible:

  • Ohio off Lagan
  • 21st at Bayou Drive, off Central Avenue, East Side of HWY 603
  • Pacific at Avenue D, West Side of HWY 603
  • Mediterranean Street, Off Avenue D, West Side of HWY 603
  • Ladoga off Kiln-Waveland Cut-Off Road
  • Polk off Garfield, off Harbor Drive

 
The EMA Office will continue to monitor the roads.
