Rising river approaches Chimes restaurant in Covington

COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) -

The rising Bogue Falaya river reached the Chimes restaurant in Covington overnight, but did not flood the business.

According to reports from eye-witnesses in Covington, heavy rains caused the Bogue Falaya river to rise so high it reached the Chimes Restaurant. Photos show the walkway that usually allows patrons to walk down to the river completely covered in water. They were taken hours before the river reached it's crest.

The owner of Chimes restaurant reached out to Fox 8's Shelby Latino and said that no water made it into the Chimes. They plan on reopening later today.

Fox 8 has reporters in Covington and will continue to report on the situation as it develops.
