NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are searching for a man who is wanted for attempted murder and home invasion.

Both incidents occurred in the 14700 block of Beekman Road.

According to police the 43-year-old female victim told investigators that on Friday, around 3:45 a.m., she was inside her bedroom when her estranged boyfriend, identified 29-year-old Yancy Matirne, entered her home and fired several shots into her bedroom. Matirne then went into the bedroom where fired several more rounds, before fleeing.

The victim was not struck by the gunfire.

Police say that in a separate incident, which took place on Feb. 26 around 4:09 a.m., the victim told police that she was inside her home when Matirne came over and tried to talk to her. After she told Matirne that she did not want to talk to, or see him, he kicked in the door. A witness, who was inside the house at the time of the incident, saw Matirne holding a gun and refused to let him see the victim. Matirne then ran away from the scene.

Yancy Matirne is described as a black man, around 5’6” tall, weighing around 210 lbs, with a stocky build.

Police warn that Matirne should be considered armed and dangerous.

If you have any information that could help locate Yancy Matirne, you are asked to call NOPD Seventh District Detectives at (504) 658-6070 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
