COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) -

Flood water continues to be a problem in St. Tammany Parish, where several businesses were forced to close. Saturday morning, many businesses opened their doors to start the cleanup process.

A few inches of water settled inside of the Advance Auto Parts store on Boston Street.  Peter Lombard, District Manager of the store, did his best to salvage the building’s interior. “We entered the store around 6:30 this morning and found about three inches of water,” said Lombard. “Since then, we’ve been able to push the water out and get the cleanup started.”

Lombard and his co-workers moved some water out of the store, but ten percent of their merchandise was ruined. Now, they are waiting on a corporate team to assess the damage. Until then, the crew is using dehumidifiers to prevent mildew from building up on their inventory. If their strategy works, Lombard and his crew hope to reopen the store within a few days.
