PEARL RIVER, LA (WVUE) -

As of Monday at 3:30 p.m., the Pearl River was cresting at 20.2 feet.

Authorities say at least five homes have already taken on water in the city of Pearl River.

Major flooding will occur below 14 feet mean sea level along and east of Military Road from the I-59 interchange south to Highway 109.

Other rivers have crested and are falling. We will have to continue to monitor this for the next couple of days.

A quick-moving upper level low is passing our area. While it is prompting severe weather to our north, the southern end of this system will only provide some brisk winds and a few more clouds.

Tuesday will be very similar to today. Another round of rain is in the forecast as we head into the middle of the week.

We will be monitoring this system closely as it does have the potential to produce 1 to 2 inches of rain.
