NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A significant milestone in New Orleans Saints history is at hand.

10 years ago, the team signed a free agent quarterback Drew Brees, who had plied his trade with the San Diego Chargers after being drafted out of Purdue University.

The New Orleans Saints are celebrating Brees today on their website.

The signing was not without critics. There were some who said Brees was on the decline, hampered by a shoulder injury. They were clearly wrong.

Given the impact Brees has had on the Saints, and New Orleans as a whole, his coming may go down as one of the most significant signings by any team, at any time, in any sport.
