ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

All St. Tammany, Washington and Tangipahoa Parish public schools will be open Tuesday, March 15.

All St. Tammany Parish Public School System schools have been checked by administrators and the bus routes have been tested by bus drivers.

“We understand given this historic flooding, some students and employees will not be able to return to school and work. This is a difficult time for those who live in impacted areas,” said STPPS Superintendant W. L. “Trey” Folse, III.

Any students not able to return to school will be provided with an excused absence and will be allowed to make up missed class work. Employees should communicate with their individual principal or direct supervisor with any issues or concerns.

Only one school experienced minor water damage. Administrators at Lyon Elementary worked with maintenance staff over the weekend to thoroughly clean the part of the school where water entered.

Also, All Tangipahoa Parish School System public schools will be open Tuesday, March 15.  Due to high water remaining in some areas and/or bridge or road closures, some bus routes will be modified. Students who are unable to attend school tomorrow because of flooding will be excused.
