LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

A Thibodaux man and a Napoleonville woman face several charges after they allegedly threw bags of drugs out of their vehicle late Friday night.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office said its deputies tried to pull over a vehicle driven by Joshua Johnson, 19, on St. Mary Street near Thibodaux. Johnson continued to drive into Assumption Parish and investigators said they saw someone tossing items from the vehicle's passenger window. Deputies caught up with them on LA Highway 1. The sheriff's office said the bags contained suspected cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana. Johnson and his passenger, 21-year-old Toriante Sylvester, allegedly had large amounts of cash with them. Deputies said Sylvester also had a large amount of marijuana.

Deputies said they found more marijuana under Sylvester's wig when they booked her into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. She faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and taking contraband to a penal institution. Sylvester was also booked on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court.

Johnson was booked with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine, possession of  marijuana, obstruction of justice, flight from an officer, improper lane usage and no driver's license.

The sheriff's office says it seized 22.5 grams of marijuana, 12.3 grams of cocaine and 2.5 grams of methamphetamine.
