(WVUE) -

The Tulane women’s basketball team (21-11) secured their seventh straight trip to the postseason on Monday night when the WNIT placed the Green Wave in their 64-team bracket. The Olive and Blue will play host to the University of Alabama (15-15) in first round action on Wednesday, March 16, inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse.

“We’re a perfect team for the WNIT, having five freshmen on our squad,” Tulane women’s basketball head coach Lisa Stockton explained. “We want to take this postseason opportunity and see how much better our team can get. Hopefully we can accept this challenge and do well.”

Tulane joins Memphis and Temple as representatives of the American Athletic Conference in the WNIT. If successful on Wednesday, the Wave will play the winner of Georgia Tech vs Mercer, which takes place on Thursday in Atlanta.
