(WVUE) -

Tulane and Nicholls sped through the first six innings of their Tuesday night matchup scoreless until the Green Wave scored one run in the top of the seventh, prompting the Colonels to respond with two runs, good enough for the eventual win.

Nearly 2,000 were in attendance at Ray Didier Field in Thibodaux as five Nicholls pitchers, led by five scoreless innings from Daniel Goff, gave their offense a chance to win the game. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh with two runners in scoring position, Alex Tucker dropped a sacrifice bunt to bring Devin Morrell home and an errant throw brought Justin Holt in for the go-ahead run.

The Green Wave got a great performance from Richard Carthon at the plate, going 3-for-4 and scoring the visitors' lone run. Jeremy Montalbano was credited with the loss, despite not being credited with an earned run in his 0.2 innings of work.

Nicholls is back in action Wednesday as Southern comes to town. Tulane will prepare for a road trip to Texas over the weekend.
