NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Last season UNO finished with a paltry 14 wins out of 54 games. Sixteen games into this campaign, and UNO is a surprising 13-3.

UNO's victories haven't come against lightweights either. They beat crosstown rival Tulane, who was ranked in the top 25 in the preseason. This past weekend the Privateers took two out of three games against conference power Sam Houston State. The culture of losing on the Lakefront, looks to be a thing of the past with Blake Dean in-charge.

"I don't see them getting complacent. Most of these guys have been use to losing the past four years, their entire career here," Dean said. "Now that they have a taste of victory, what it feels like to be on the opposite end of losing. I think these guys are growing more dangerous daily. I think these guys are getting more confidence, they're believing in each other. As long as we stay healthy, I think we could put together a pretty good year."

"Oh it's awesome," catcher Kyle Bracey said. "Like you said, the guys here last year were tired of losing, so Coach Dean and all the coaches went out got a good recruiting class, plus some good returners from last year. We're just trying to turn the page, but so far it's been a magical ride."

UNO visits LSU Wednesday, first pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.

Early in his Rummel career it became very obvious Ja'Marr Chase was a special talent. Colleges across the country want the five-star recruit because he excels all over the field. "Great team player. He was on special teams at times, helped us out there. He worked hard at practice. He's not one of those guys that got in the huddle and said 'I want the football.'
