LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

Police arrested a high school student after he allegedly threatened to kill his teacher over Snapchat.

Officers arrested 17-year-old D'Andre Rhodes on March 15 after a faculty member contacted the School Resource Officer in reference to the Snapchat video according to Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre.

Rhodes admitted to making the video, according to police, but told officers it was a joke. Police transported Rhodes to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked with Cyberstalking. He was released the next morning on $25,000 bond.

“Threatening to kill another person is never a joking matter,” Webre said. “When the threat involves a student and a teacher, we must consider not only the safety of those individuals, but the safety of all at the school. Any threat of this nature – whether intended as a joke or not – will be handled as a serious threat and the suspect will be charged accordingly.”
