Orleans Parish Sheriff's deputies want to find a man they say escaped from a courtroom shortly after being ordered to be taken into custody.

They say a Judge Robin Pittman ordered Tommie Perry be taken into custody because he failed a drug test. Prior to Friday's court appearance, Perry had been released on a surety bond in connection with a theft case.

Deputies say Perry bolted, after Judge Pittman's order that he be taken into custody. They also say he struck a deputy, causing her to fall. The deputy suffered a minor bruise on her right arm.

If you can help investigators find Perry, contact Crimestoppers at 822-1111 or crimestoppersgno.org.
